In 1592, Korea is fractured by political infighting and threatened by Japanese invasion. Brave fighter Mong-hak Lee tries to overthrow the king, but his bloody revolution is opposed by his old friend, blind swordsman Jung-hak Hwang. Joining the intrigue and bloodletting are young Gyeong-ja, whose father was killed by Lee, and courtesan Baek-ji, who has her own powerful motives for revenge against Lee.
